Mindfulness is an invaluable way to enable us to find an inner calm by bringing our thoughts down to a more peaceful, quiet level. Simply put, it’s creating gaps between the thinking! Creating a lovely ‘being’ state that we can rest in, no matter how much stress we have going on in our lives.
Research studies using Mindfulness have been scientifically proven to help people with pain management and depression. My clients who have benefitted from Mindfulness have included those suffering bereavement, depression, insomnia, learning difficulties, panic attacks, anxiety, post operative recovery, relationship breakdown, severe pain, as well as those with adhd, on the autistic spectrum, with alzheimers and dementia. It’s being taught in more and more schools to help children of all ages cope with life in a more beneficial way. It’s brilliant for helping with the anxiety and pressure of exams, interviews and any potentially stressful situation.
Learning Mindfulness, being with animals (including the powerful therapeutic effects of being with a herd of healing horses) and being in nature can help you profoundly in many areas of your life. People benefit hugely from creating the mindful state required to help our animals. So, by helping animals we also help ourselves.
How does it work:
Mindfulness allows us to see clearly what is happening in our lives. Whilst it cannot eliminate life’s pressures, it can be a good way to help people deal with them in a calmer manner that is extremely beneficial to overall well-being.
According to the NHS choices website, being more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more and understand ourselves better. Mindfulness is a practical way to notice thoughts, sensations, sights, sounds and smells. The practice may be simple, but because it is so different to how our minds normally behave, it takes practice. Mindfulness might simply be described as choosing and learning to control our focus of attention. This is a very simple concept which originates from the ancient Buddhist practice, but is essentially non-religious. Mindfulness is about being in the moment, not regretting the past or worrying about the future.
The benefits of Mindfulness
It can be easy to rush through life without noticing what is going on. Stressful lives often lead to living on ‘automatic pilot’. When this becomes a habitual state, it can be associated with a number of stress related health problems. Being more aware of the present moment can help people to enjoy the world around them and to develop a better understanding of themselves.
NHS studies have found that mindfulness programmes can bring about reductions in stress and improvements in mood. In short, everybody can benefit physically, emotionally and mentally from learning mindfulness techniques. It can contribute to greater peace of mind, better sleep and more productivity at work as well as to feeling happier or to having better relationships with others.
As you begin to practice things in a mindful way you will feel calmer and more relaxed, and will have a greater concept of your surroundings and feelings.
When we practice Mindfulness with animals, they offer a direct feedback to our inner state, mirroring our peacefulness and joining us in a beautiful tranquil space. Jacqui teaches this process in a compassionate, gentle way which enables people and animals to enter into this deeply healing state effectively, which benefits everyone.
Having endured overwhelming loss and heartbreak many times in my own life, I have been on a journey of learning how to hold respectful, peaceful, healing space for those passing over. Unconditional love and forgiveness create the peacefulness to help those passing and those left behind to grieve. Combining this personal learning with the healing modalities that I am trained in, I offer support during this very personal and important time.
Both Mindfulness with Animals, Animal Communication and Reiki healing is a wonderful way to help those in transition at time of passing over to create complete peacefulness and acceptance. Helping both people and/or animals to understand and communicate what is happening is so helpful.
Sometimes this means helping animals visit their people at hospice or hospital, which I am very happy to help facilitate. It is also so helpful to stay in a peaceful mindset when choosing the best veterinary / healing treatment for your animal friend if they are very ill. I know from personal experience how easy it is to get into a fear response and forget our ability to hold a peaceful, intuitive space, therefore it is at times like these that having someone to help you can be so useful.
After passing over, I offer support through using gentle mindfulness techniques. This creates peace and acceptance allowing time for grieving and all the emotions that so need to be felt and acknowledged.
I feel privileged to be able to help people and animals with this work, and am very happy to chat to you about your situation with of course no obligation for further appointments with me.
I can offer you confidential consultations in your own home, in my beautiful healing yurt, away from your animals and other family members and in total privacy, or you can book your session via Skype, in the comfort of your own home, wherever you are!
HEALING AND MASSAGE THERAPY:
My yurt is also a tranquil treatment space for Reiki and Hawaiian healing bodywork including LomiLomi and Shamanic massage treatments. These healing treatments are especially beneficial at times of transition. For further information on these healing treatments, please see Hawaiian healing massage page.
